Mika Abele is an interdisciplinary emerging artist who is passionate about community engagement, making, teaching and learning, and rocks of all shapes and sizes.
Mika’s work investigates queer experience in the natural world, and examines how magical realism can be a framework for unlearning.
Her often whimsical making, writing and curatorial practices aim to connect people with their environment through imagination, sensory experience and joy. They work and live on the stolen land of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.
